What We Do

What Is Racial Equity

What do we mean when we talk about racial equity?

At FCI we believe that racial equity exists when people of color:

  • Are able to fully participate in the political, cultural, and economic decisions of their community.

  • Are guaranteed fair treatment and access to the opportunities necessary to satisfy their essential needs, to advance their well-being, achieve their potential, and realize their vision of success.

  • Experience the benefits of growth and change, and not only the costs.

Discussing race is hard. But hearing from communities across Wisconsin, we know that living with the day-to-day reality of racial disparity is even harder.  In the urban and rural areas, and places home to many people of color or just a few, in every region of the state, racial equity, inclusion, and opportunity matter.
