For thirty years, Wisconsin Community Fund has been a leader social justice grantmaking in our state, supporting nonprofit organizations that are too new, too small, or too controversial for consideration by mainstream funders. Now under the Forward Community Investments umbrella, WCF is exploring new ways of seeding promising organizations and programs engaged in economic and social change.
A program of FCI since July 1, 2012, WCF continues to follow the motto of "Change, not Charity", as we focus on how best to support the needs of nonprofits across Wisconsin. Our hope is that this unique partnership can expand on the pool of funds available for grantmaking, while developing new ways of identifying promising work to fund.
To help us plan “outside of the box”, we have assembled a Visioning Committee comprised of individuals from various and impressive backgrounds, who will work hand-in-hand with our board of directors. These individuals have agreed to share their collective experiences with us:
• Doug Nelson, retired president and CEO of the Annie E. Casey Foundation
• Katherine Dunn, vice president, community investments, Greater Milwaukee Foundation
• Kelly Ryan, president and CEO of Incourage Foundation (f/k/a Community Foundation of South Wood County)
• Bob Glowacki, president and CEO of Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin
• Kaleem Caire, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Madison
• Susan Phillips, former president and CEO of Agrace HospiceCare
• Judy Wilcox, representing FCI
• Paul Harrison, representing WCF
We anticipate moving forward with a new organizational blueprint in the next year. Stay tuned!

“Financing from Forward Community Investments allows us to make a greater impact on low-income and no-income families in Wisconsin.”
“We encourage our investors to consider FCI as part of their sensible investment strategy. In our opinion, no other investment blends so successfully a highly competitive return with the value of building a better community!”
"Without Forward Community Investments and a willingness to provide non-traditional financing, we would not be able to provide these programs.”
“FCI finds ways to finance projects that no others can. I truly believe you are all unique and outstanding.”
"I wanted to personally thank you and your team for making this closing happen! It was critical for OFS to get the house, and so important to get it done by the end of the year. FCI really rose to the occasion. Our community is a much better place because of OFS and FCI!"
"The workshop definitely helped to increase our awareness of capacity building, and the online self-assessment tool that was presented will be a great asset in making our program more effective.”
"I think Forward Community Investments is truly a partner because a partner picks up where you leave off. It was fairly straightforward.”
"I have been an individual investor in Forward Community Investments since 1996. At first I was just attracted to helping local non-profit groups. Now I view this as a way of investing in a new and better economy and making a difference in both local services and a national movement."
"The predevelopment loan from Forward Community Investments made affordable development possible in times when capital is difficult to find."
In addition to providing us with a $60,000 loan for predevelopment expenses, Forward Community Investments facilitated the transfer of more than $5 million in New Market Tax Credits to this project. This access to capital meant that we were able to reach our goal earlier than expected – saving us valuable time and money.”
