Central Wisconsin Community Action Council (CWCAC)

Forward Community Investments loaned CWCAC $375,000 for the purchase and renovation of a building in Beaver Dam. The project allowed CWAC to increase their services, add affordable housing and expand their food pantry.

Loan Amount: $300,000 for purchase of building + $75,000 for renovations = $375,000 Total Loan

CWCAC provides housing, employment and homeless services to people in Adams, Columbia, Juneau, Sauk, Dodge and Waushara Counties. Each year they serve more than 300 households, including almost 500 adults and 360 children.

The facility in Beaver Dam responds to an increasing need from people living below the poverty line in Wisconsin. Its location in Dodge County solidifies CWCAC's presence in the community and increases accessibility to program services for people of modest means. The two-story building offers a variety of assistance for people in Dodge County including:

• Consolidation of several local food pantries into a single larger site

• Six affordable apartments for low-income families

• Space for homeless prevention programs that serve nearly 100 families annually

• Co-location with United Migrant Opportunity

The loan to CWCAC was an investment that helped CWCAC grow its capacity to respond to the increasing needs of low-wealth individuals in rural Wisconsin.
