Forward Community Investments loaned ARCW $500,000 to make leasehold improvements to their medical center that expanded services to people living with HIV disease.

The ARCW is among the largest and most comprehensive AIDS service agencies in the country. ARCW provides comprehensive health care services and a vast array of social services to more than 2,600 Wisconsin residents living with HIV disease. Of the clients served, more than 70% are living at or below poverty and 45% have no payer source for health care. For these people, ARCW is a lifeline to basic medical, dental and mental health services. Forward Community Investments loaned ARCW $500,000 to make leasehold improvements to their medical center that expanded services to people living with HIV disease.
The leasehold improvements funded by FCI enhanced the efficiency and confidentiality of its medical center and food pantry and expanded ARCW’s dental services. As a result, ARCW more than doubled the patient population it serves in Milwaukee, making it the largest provider of medical care for HIV patients in Wisconsin. Improvements included:
- Doubling the number of medical and dental exam rooms
- Adding a sixth mental health counseling room
- Constructing six meeting rooms for the delivery of social services, health counseling and legal assistance
- Improving the work flow in ARC’s food panty
- Renovating the building’s exterior to present a more welcoming environment
- Improving patient and client reception areas
