FCI Distributes Largest Loan in Their 18 Year History

Madison, WI – January 2, 2012 – Forward Community Investments (FCI) lends $1.3 million to the Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Programs, Inc. (SWCAP) located in Dodgeville, WI. to finance the construction of a 4,100 square foot dental clinic. The expansion will include 8 dental units, a waiting room, reception area and offices to provide services for low-income families.

“FCI is delighted to be participating in such a wonderful project that will continue to deliver the much needed health access to the low-income individuals in Iowa and surrounding counties.”, states Salli Martyniak, president, FCI. “FCI’s long-standing partnership with SWCAP is a prime example of nonprofits working together to strengthen communities, provide jobs, and deliver services to those in need throughout the region.”

“This construction loan combined with the permanent financing through the USDA Rural Development will allow SWCAP to build an incredible facility in downtown Dodgeville to meet the dental health care needs of families and children enrolled in Medicaid and others who struggle to find and pay for dental services states Walter Orzechowski Executive Director of SWCAP. Access Community Health Centers from Madison currently operates a four chair dental clinic in Dodgeville but this new building will allow them to more than double their capacity. It will be a wonderful day for our area when many more low income persons will finally be able to obtain dental care because of the combined efforts of the partner organizations working on this project”

SWCAP has an annual budget of $7.8 million and employs approximately 77 full-time employees and 25 part-time employees. Every three years SWCAP undertakes a Community Needs Assessment providing updated demographic data and relevant community information to identify the strengths, needs and trends that impact the design and implementation of SWCAP’s various programs and the lack of dental care for low income families is always one of the highest reported needs.
